ISU Hockey & Bike Race on Ice!

Hockey Cheerleaders help Toons Publisher overcome shyness.

Lots of furious action as #6 ISU pummels #5 Ohio, winning 3-2. The Cyclones took the early lead midway through the first period as Adolph scored on the rebound of Neville’s blast from the right side. Ohio evened the score three minutes later, with Peota scoring on a power play after Cyclone goaltender Johansson took a delay of game penalty for clearing the puck over the glass.  The score remained knotted until Hanley gave the Bobcats the go-ahead goal. With things looking desperate for the Cyclones, senior Jason Brown scored at the 16:51 mark, tying the game and bringing the record-setting crowd to its feet.

ISU wasn’t done! Krueger scored the game-winning goal from fellow rookies Majkozak and Mytnik with less than a minute and a half to play.

Race competitors Rick Lem, of Toons, and Ronn

Ritz of Skunk River Cycles, prepare for a Sprint

Figure 8 race on Super Slick Ice. While Ladie’s man

Ritz chats it up with a cheerleader, Lem prepares a

“stability device” to attach to his competitor’s

bicycle, to help him. It only looks like a boat anchor.

Why did Ritz pick Lem to race?? “He looks

easy, and I’ve been wanting to publicly humiliate

him for years!” What a pugnacious attitude, Ronn!

It was a thrilling display of raw guts & courage for the crowd.  While the raw athleticism was admirable, the sportsmanship suffered.  Ugly allegations of sabotaging bicycles, trash-talking, & corner cutting was the beginning. Ronn Ritz trailed a very dangerous boat anchor behind his bike to inhibit passing and threw slushballs at good sport Lem, (hitting me twice, once in the face!) Then he called my protective life jacket padding “sissyboy stuff”! The lead changed several times with Ritz declared the winner.  Mostly because HE had studded bicycle tires on his bike and was in front at the finish line!
